I'm excited to share that some of the Claims, Inc., team members went out last weekend for the STARS Take Back the Night Gala in Ann Arbor, MI. STARS stands for Stand Tough Against Rape Society. Their goal is to take a stand against sexual violence, change rape culture, and give hope to survivors. The gala was hosted at the Zingerman's Greyline and featured dinner along with dancing and a silent auction. 100% of the proceeds from the auction went to STARS to help support sexual assault survivors with events. Craig, Patti, Travis and I had a wonderful time supporting an amazing cause.

This gala came before the next Take Back the Night Ann Arbor event which is a rally that will be held on April 2, 2026. Jena-Lisa Jones, an Epstein survivor, will be speaking at the rally. It will be held at the University of Michigan Ballroom. We are excited to attend the 2nd event.

Rape culture is a pervasive threat to the safety and wellbeing of our communities. Per the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, 1 in 5 women in the U.S. experienced completed or attempted rape during their lifetime. Additionally, nearly a quarter of men in the U.S. have experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime. About a third of survivors, on average, will have experienced rape between the ages of 11 and 17.

Supporting STARS is important to us at Claims because of our ethics not only as a company, but as human beings. We believe we can all fight rape culture, in small and big ways, everyday with our actions. Learning about rape culture can help you and others be aware of how to stop it in its tracks.
